2020 Indiana State Holstein Show & Summer Jersey Show UPDATE
With the postponement of the Indiana State Holstein Shows and Summer Jersey shows, we were limited on dates that we could reschedule with LaPorte County Fairgrounds. Given those circumstances, the Indiana State Holstein Shows and Summer Jersey Shows are now planned for Tuesday, July 7 - Friday, July 10, 2020 at the Whitley County Fairgrounds in Columbia City, IN.  You may begin moving in on Tuesday, July 7, 2020.  All shows will take place on Friday, July 10, 2020.  The show will begin at 8:45 a.m. with PeeWee Showmanship.  The Indiana Holstein Junior Show (Indiana Junior members only) will be combined with the Open Show with Juniors being recognized by stepping forward. The Summer Jersey Show will be combined as well with the Summer Jersey Junior Show and we will rotate between Holsteins and Jerseys as we normally do.  We will be running 4 shows at once and ask for your patience during the show. We are trying to keep it as simple as we can, all while trying to meet the guidelines and requirements set in place at that time.  Given the current circumstances, the Juniors will not be having a silent auction this year or the Junior breakfast.  I’m sure all of you share the same hope that next year we can return to normal with our show season and activities.

The NEW Junior Lease and Transfer deadline is July 1, 2020.  If you have not already made transfers or leases, I highly recommend that you do this immediately.  Holstein has been closed and only a few people have been working from home.  A limited number of people are back in the office.  It will most likely have a longer turn around time than normal.  It is highly recommended to complete transfers online.  They have a pretty quick turn around time and are very simple to complete.

TENTS - Please note that Whitley County Fairgrounds does NOT allow tents in the barns, so please plan accordingly.  Campsites are available for $25 per night and fees must be paid in advance to the Indiana Holstein Association.  These sites are electric only.  There are no water hookups as there are no dump stations on the grounds.  You must be self contained.

WAIVER - EVERY person on the fairgrounds will be required to sign a waiver, including every fitter and every person who is helping with your string, as well as any spectator.  NO ONE WILL BE ALLOWED TO UNLOAD WITHOUT FILLING ONE OUT.  THE WAIVER IS ATTACHED TO THIS EMAIL AND CAN ALSO BE DOWNLOADED FROM THE WEBSITE.  PLEAE FILL IT OUT PRIOR TO YOUR ARRIVAL TO EXPEDITE THIS PROCESS.  A family (parents and their children) may list each family member's name on one waiver.  If you bring other Juniors with you, be sure to have them fill one out, have it signed by their parents, and bring it to the fairgrounds. The waiver states that you have not been exposed to anyone that has had symptoms of coronavirus or who was diagnosed with coronovirus in the last 30 days.  It realeases the Whitley County Fairgrounds, the Indiana State Holstein Association and its officers, directors, members, etc. from any liability for any sickness that may result from partcipating in the show.  We have been in contact with the Whitley County Board of Health. They have given us the green light, but highly recommend that anyone who is not comfortable with the current situation remain at home.  Masks are NOT required.  Please wash your hand often.

New Entry Deadline : June 25, 2020 - If you made entries under the old deadline, you need not make your entries again.  If you would like to make changes to the original entries you submitted, such as swapping an animal out (whether in class or out of class), you may do so on or before June 25th.  Please fill out a form (Paper or download the file from the website and email it) with just the animal that you are substituting.  Make a note in the margin as to the animal that you are removing from your original entries that you sent in.  If you are adding additional animals, please submit a new form with just the additional animals and the $10 fee on or before June 25th.  JUNIORS IF YOU ONLY SIGNED UP FOR THE JUNIOR SHOW, PLEASE CONSIDER SIGNING UP FOR THE OPEN SHOW, SINCE THEY ARE RUNNING SIMULTANEOUSLY!  IF YOU ORIGINALLY ONLY SIGNED UP FOR THE JUNIOR SHOW AND YOUR ENTRIES ALL REMAIN THE SAME, AND YOU WOULD LIKE TO SIGN UP FOR THE OPEN SHOW, YOU DO NOT NEED TO RESUBMIT THOSE ENTRIES FOR THE OPEN SHOW, JUST THE $10 PER ANIMAL ENTRY FEE ON OR BEFORE JUNE 25, 2020.  After June 25, 2020, substitution rules and late fees will apply to all changes.  If you have any questions, please contact Jennifer Freeman by email at indianaholstein@gmail.com or by phone at 574-546-3749.

Just a reminder to our Jersey exhibitors and out of state exhibitors, a $50 membership fee will be required in addition to your entry fees to exhibit.

Thank you so much for your patience as we navigate these ever changing unchartered waters.

2019 Indiana Holstein Honorary Lifetime Member
Keith Meyer

It is with mixed emotions that we announce our 2019 Honorary Lifetime Member, Keith Meyer. Several Indiana Holstein Association members gathered at the end of December as a surpise to present Keith with this distinction. Years ago, he was the man who was known for getting all the cattle ready and managed the crews for many national sales and all of the state, district, and county sales in Indiana, as well as the surrounding states. He mentored numerous young men who became known for their clipping and fitting. It is with sadness that we share that he passed away on Thursday, January 17, 2019. We are so grateful that we had the opportunity to present him with this award and share some time with him and his family. He was honored and filled with joy to receive this award. Please keep the Meyer family in your thoughts and prayers. Photo credit:Mallarie Matlock
